A register template is a keyboard overlay that defines each button on a cash register or POS system. In other words, you buy a cash register; it has programmable buttons that go from F1-F100; and you’re then expected to make up a grid that says or has a picture of each menu item. This grid is physically placed over your register so your employees can push “small drink” instead of F32 when a customer asks for such.
How do you get these overlays? When you’re just starting out, you may hand-draw them or have an employee jerry-rig it on Microsoft Word and then color it in with a crayon. But employee turnover and technological access will make incremental changes impossible. You need to look professional, as much for employee morale and performance as for your customers. That’s where we come in.
At Register Templates, we create these keyboard overlays for you using precise and expensive software, and we keep them on file. So when you want to add a menu item or rearrange buttons, it’s quick and easy (and therefore inexpensive). This is especially popular with franchised quick-service or fast food restaurants, whose corporations add and remove menu items constantly. This actually all started in 1994 when we were asked to outfit 13 Burger King restaurants, because restaurants of all sizes face this problem.
